Welcome to my country, the land of the great bay of the Boon Wurrung people, our beautiful home.

On behalf of the Boon Wurrung, a clan of the greater Kulin nations, I welcome you to our land. Euro Yuroke – more commonly known as St Kilda – and its surrounds are special places, which continue to carry forward the spirit of our tradition.

This land will always be protected by the creator, Bundjil, who travels as an eagle, and by Waang, who protects the waterways and travels as a crow.

As the spirit of my ancestors lives, let the wisdom and the spirit of generosity which Bundjil taught us influence the opportunities that may arise at this meeting.

Welcome!

The City of Port Phillip is delighted to welcome you to the St Kilda Festival.

Australia's largest free music festival is celebrating this proud history as it knows best – with a bumper program of live music and loads of activities for everyone to enjoy.

It's amazing to think of the millions of locals and visitors this iconic summer celebration has attracted to the foreshore over the past 40 years.

They come to experience the area's natural beauty and the extraordinary home-grown talent, family-friendly fun, wonderful food and vibrant community spirit which make this much-loved event so special.

Great memories encourage many to return to further explore St Kilda’s unique attractions.

Though the Festival has seen many changes since its humble beginnings in the 1980s, it continues as a free community celebration for people of all ages.

We hope to see you there!

Councillor Bernadene Voss, Mayor, City of Port Phillip
