Road Closures

St Kilda Festival 2024 will be held on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 February 2024. Full and partial road closures in your area will apply on Sunday 18 February between the hours of 3 am and 12 midnight.

The following information relates only to Festival Sunday.

Please be aware that additional traffic in your area may cause some traffic congestion throughout the day. Be mindful that the road closures will also increase the number of vehicles parking within the extended festival precinct, including Albert Park, Middle Park, St Kilda East, Elwood and Elsternwick.

The 2024 event will see the following closures and changed conditions:

Full road closures (no access to any traffic)

  • Fitzroy Street, between Grey Street (including the Grey/ Canterbury intersection) and The Esplanade (including the Acland Street intersection)
  • The Esplanade, between Fitzroy and Carlisle streets
  • Lower Esplanade
  • Acland Street, between Carlisle and Belford streets
  • Cavell Street
  • Shakespeare Grove, between
  • Acland and Chaucer streets
  • Jacka Boulevard, between Acland and Cavell streets

Partial road closures

  • Closure of Lakeside Drive
  • Carlisle Street, between St Kilda Road and Acland Street
  • Grey Street, between Fitzroy and Barkly streets and all side streets off Grey Street
  • Acland Street, between Jackson and Carlisle streets and all side streets off Acland Street
  • Princes Street, between Fitzroy and Barkly streets and all side streets off Princes Street
  • Fitzroy Street, between St Kilda Road and Grey Street
  • Pier Road
  • Beaconsfield Parade, between Cowderoy and Acland streets
  • Marine Parade, between Cavell and Blessington streets

Other information

  • Beaconsfield Parade, between Cowderoy and Acland streets including the intersections of Cowderoy and Mary streets, will be closed to traffic. Access to Cowderoy and Mary streets will be via Canterbury Road or Park Street.
  • Blessington Street, between Chaucer and Spenser streets (carpark) will be closed to traffic and general public.
  • Beach Road will be accessible via side streets for local traffic access only, between Kerferd Road and St Kilda Street without an access pass, with consideration of the above full and partial road closures.
  • Marine Parade residents within this closure will access their property’s allocated parking space, if applicable, via a detour in place at Blessington Street.
  • Shakespeare Grove will be zoned a one-way street for Festival Sunday.
  • The St Kilda Festival precinct is a tow-away zone from 3 am to 12 midnight Sunday. Vehicles within the precinct will be relocated to the Marine Parade carpark – call 03 9209 6306 for information on towed vehicles.
