Lamine Sonko and The African Intelligence

Lamine Sonko & The African intelligence deliver an ancient rhythmic collision of African roots music, jazz, funk, and reggae. The 10 piece ensemble is unmatched in their ability to excite and engage Australian audiences with their contemporary fusion of exhilarating Afro grooves.

The band is fronted by the charismatic, Lamine Sonko, who is quickly becoming Australia’s most accomplished African artist. Praised for his compelling melodies and distinct percussive blend of the traditional and contemporary, Lamine is modernising West African music while maintaining the essence of ancient sounds and stories. He skilfully integrates English, Wolof and Mandinka, to convey his powerful messages of social equality, cultural diversity and the importance of indigenous music.

Lamine Sonko & The African Intelligence have recently delivered crowd-stopping performances at Port Fairy Folk Festival, White Night Melbourne, Fed Square NYE and Arts Centre Melbourne and are on track to release their debut album later this year.
