The South Sudanese Australian rapper and poet (aka Piath Mathiang) blurs the line between hip hop, pop, RnB and electronic with her darting flow, impenetrable rhymes and journey towards self assurance Queen P makes her mark as a “Queen with Colour”.
Relocating to Australia at the age of five, Queen P’s first taste of the limelight came by the way of Television starring in the SBS TV mini series ‘Sunshine’ in 2017 along with a pivotal role in the TV series ‘Nowhere Boys’ in 2018.
Not one to remove herself from the proud cultural roots of South Sudan, Queen P took to the music stage in 2018 releasing her first mixtape “Bring Black Back”. Elevating Queen P from the underground to the forefront this mixtape saw P support Masta Ace (USA), Billy Davis & The Good Lords, Cool Out Sun and festival appearances at Strawberry Fields, Groovin The Moo, The Australian Open, St. Kilda Festival and Bigsound.
No stranger to the limelight, P aims to send a message of empowerment to all other “Queens with Colour”, exuding her vibrant personality on and off stage, P was nominated for a National Live Music Award in 2019.
In 2020 Queen P featured on the latest single from Holy Holy, ‘Port Rd’ and performed alongside the band across Australia on their sold out East-Coast tour. ‘Port Rd’ (feat. Queen P) achieved the heralded number most played spot on triple j and reached over half a million + streams on Spotify in under 2 months. Queen P is also supporting Holy Holy on their upcoming album tour across Australia in November and December 2021.
