At just 23 years old, emerging hip-hop and R&B artist Squid The Kid is quickly solidifying his name as one of South East Melbourne’s rising stars. Hailing from the infamous suburb Hampton Park, the humble musician rips through funky beats with slick flows, inspired by the sounds of Tyler, The Creator, Mac Miller and Anderson.Paak.
Taking the leap of faith and dropping out of his studies, Squid decided to hit the ground running and pursue his dream of being a musician, with his debut single ‘Wintertime’ seeing an abundance of local praise. Squid thrives off his surroundings, so co-founding the humorous collective Kozy Kids was always going to be a fun idea - reminiscent of the early days of Odd Future.
With beats and hooks you’ll never forget, Squid The Kid is excited to end the year on a hot streak - especially after he was named as a finalist for the ‘Vans Musicians Wanted’ competition - and judged by the likes of Denzel Curry and Sean Miyashiro from 88 Rising.
“Hot off the release of his latest single ‘Drunk Thoughts,’ [Squid] the Kid seems to be on a one track journey to superstardom.” - Amar Gera, Life Without Andy (2021)
