The Australian Music Prize (The Amp) is a prize which recognises and promotes Australian music of excellence, which in turn promotes a healthy local music industry. Each year both major and independent recording artists across all genres are invited to submit an album they have released that year. The entries are then put to a peer review process by our judging panel. Our judges have no personal or professional affiliations with the titles they judge, which keeps The Amp purely about great music. The Shortlisted titles and then the winner receive a significant profile boost both domestically and overseas, which has a long lasted affect on their career. The winner also receives a $30,000 cash contribution to their career courtesy of PPCA. Previous winners are The Drones, Augie March, The Mess Hall & Eddy Current Suppression Ring. The Amp 2009 is made possible due to the support of PPCA, Red Bull, Channel V plus a host of industry, media and event sponsors/partners.
