Megan Washington closed 2009 by winning the inaugural 'Vanda & Young International Songwriting Contest' from amongst over 3,500 entries and judged by the likes of Tim Finn. While seemingly arriving from 'nowhere' when her band, Washington, was unearthed by Triple J last year, those in the know may recognise Megan from one of her many incarnations. A winner of one of Australias most prestigious jazz vocal awards by the age of 21, touring the world as a vocalist with Old Man River and Ben Lee, or playing with international artists such as Camille and Grizzly Bear. Washington will release their debut album in 2010 in between tours to the US and Europe.
