Music for burnt out blacks & singed whites

'The Charcoal Club show that thoughtful music doesn't have to be dour' - CD Review THE AGE April 28, 2006

THE CHARCOAL CLUB are Richard Frankland, Andy Baylor, Monica Weightman, Aurora Kurth, Andrew O’Grady and Harry Lye.

THE CHARCOAL CLUB play a mix of Aboriginal acoustic blues with double bass, drums, violin and cello. The songs reflect Richard’s life as a young Aboriginal man growing up in Australia.

“The Charcoal Club is about burnt out blacks and singed whites, its about me you and the bloke down the road, it's about songs and  memories and having a bit of a dance and having a bit of fun”.

Aboriginal Singer/songwriter - Richard J. Frankland

The band has performed at a diverse range of venues including the Famous Spiegeltent at the Melbourne Arts Festival, Survival Day Concerts (Melbourne), Queenscliff Music Festival, St Kilda Music Festival and the Dreaming Festival in Queensland and the Port Fairy Folk Festival.
