With its 30th birthday now behind it St Kilda Festival is Australia’s and the Southern hemisphere’s largest free patronised street festival. A Melbourne tradition, it is a Celebration of Summer showcasing Australian artists and talents set on the amazing backdrop that is St Kilda beach.
The St Kilda Festival has evolved to a 9 day event, spanning various venues and locations across the entire St Kilda precinct. The Festival attracts an estimated 380,000 festival goers who enjoy a wide variety of Australian music and interactive activities on festival day alone. A further 20,000 support the 8 day program of Live N Local music, visual arts, street performance, film and comedy.
The Festival kicks off with a showcase of music from Australia’s leading indigenous artists as part of Yalukit Willam Ngargee: People Place Gathering - a welcoming event by the local clans people.
